No cruising today as Mike went down by train to collect granddaughters Alice and Jess at Kings Cross station. He left around half past eight, changed at Wakefield and was in London three hours later. He had an interesting chat to a neighbouring passenger, a new graphic design graduate, who was on her way down to Kent for a job interview. she happily spent some time showing Mike her portfolio and explaining what she had done.
Joanna and Ellie were with the girls - they texted to say that they were in the Giraffe Stop - for coffee. An hour later, Mike and the girls were on the train back up to Wakefield and thence to Huddersfield.
As it is quite a walk from the station to the boat mooring, especially with luggage, they took a taxi which dropped them a few metres from the boat. The girls dashed off to find Christine and then quickly reminded themselves where everything is on the boat.
After a welcome mug of tea, we all went across to the other side of the canal to complete our shopping at Sainsbury.
During the day Christine had taken the opportunity to clean through and then use the small launderette at the marina so that we would have less to take back home at the end of this next week,
She also booked a table at The Apsley, a typical chain restaurant but which Alice and Jess had approved last night on the phone, whilst checking out the menu on the internet!
