Autumn Trip start

Sunday 3rd October

We drove up from Cornwall as soon as we packed the car after returning from church - Mike was helping to lead worship at the Betjeman Centre. The forecast suggested that we would encounter a lot of rain but, apart from a few spots, it was dry all the way. Indeed, there were even a few places where we saw some blue sky!

It was a smooth journey and we did not feel the need to stop so we arrived at the boat shortly after 4 o'clock. So far, so good but nothing to do with canals ever stays that way for long!

Despite a note saying that the alternator had been fixed, Christine quickly ascertained that there was no power to the cabin services! Mike checked what he could and discovered that the alternator was not producing any worthwhile voltage!

The boatyard fixed us up with overnight battery charger but this meant moving the boat to the wharfside and so no chance of a TV signal! At least we could turn on the heating.
