Flight day

Let's see how I get on this time. At the moment, I can type directly into Blogger.

Tuesday was a slow start as our taxi was not booked until 11:45, leaving us plenty of time to finish packing. In fact we a received a text 30 minutes before to remind us that it was on the way.

We had a swift journey to Terminal One where we found ourselves in a queue waiting for the check in desk to open. All went smoothly and after passing through security and passport there was time for a coffee before the departure gate was announced.

The plane was full but comfortable and the four hour flight passed reasonably smoothly. We even had a meal but this was a scheduled flight with Cyprus Airways rather than one of the infamous low-cost airlines.

Arrival was equally efficient and our two cases were already on the carousel as we came through customs. A lady was waiting with our names on a board, ready to take us to the waiting transfer taxi.

By now it was fully dark on a journey of just over an hour to our final destination, an apartment in a small beach village close to Pissouri. Everything had gone so well thus far but . . .

A handwritten note on the office window at least indicated that we were in the right place but it took us 20 - 30 minutes to find H1 as there is a decidedly idiosyncratic numbering system!

Once we had carried our bags up to the apartment the next problem was that there were no lights. Mike went in search of information and eventuallyaa was told by another resident that we had to put the key fob into a slot by the door.

Returning in much elation, it was a quick delfaltion when, although the light above the slot reacted, still no lights! At least we were able to contact the owner who rather reluctantly agreed to turn out along with a the missing bottle of milk.

Shortly before he turned up, Christine located a torch in our bags and then spotted the fusebox, where it transpired that everything had been turned off!!!

Stll, in the end we sorted it all out and looked forward to the days ahead.

Phew! Let's hope that this now saves and I can start another entry for the next day.
